Each tablet contains:
Calcium carbonate 500 mg
Prevention and supportive treatment of osteoporosis.
Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency (nutritional or pathological).
Treatment of increased calcium requirements (pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth, postmenopausal women).
As an adjunct in fracture prevention in the elderly.
Sometimes used as an antacid in the treatment of heartburn and acid indiges
The product should not be used in cases of excessive calcium in the urine or blood (hyperparathyroidism, high doses of vitamin D, carcinoma, metastatic bone cancer), and it is not indicated for calcium deficiency caused by immobility.
Hypercalcemia – high calcium levels in the blood.
Hypercalciuria – high calcium levels in the urine.
Calcium-containing kidney stones.
Hypersensitivity to the product or any of its components.
Common: Constipation, bloating, nausea.
Less common: Diarrhea, metallic taste in the mouth.
Rare: Hypercalcemia, kidney stones.
Iron, Zinc, Magnesium: Their absorption is reduced when taken with calcium.
Tetracyclines, Fluoroquinolones (Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin): Calcium decreases their absorption; they should be taken at least 2 hours apart.
Levothyroxine: Its absorption is affected; it should be taken 4 hours apart from calcium.
Bisphosphonates: Should be taken on an empty stomach, away from calcium.
Thiazide diuretics: May increase calcium levels in the blood.
Prevention of calcium deficiency: 500–1000 mg daily (1–2 tablets) according to dietary needs.
Treatment of calcium deficiency or osteoporosis: 1000–1500 mg daily, divided into doses.
Antacid: 500–1500 mg as needed after meals or when experiencing heartburn.
It is preferable to take it with food to increase absorption.
The tablet should be swallowed with an adequate amount of water.
May lead to: nausea, vomiting, constipation, weakness, irregular heartbeat, hypercalcemia, kidney failure.
Treatment: Discontinue the medication, provide intravenous hydration, use diuretics, and in severe cases, hemodialysis may be necessary.
