II is considered as a dietary supplement where calcium intake It used is inadequate, and during pregnancy, lactation, in postmenopausal of women, childhood ,adolescence and the elderly patients.
It used as well in diseases such as hypo-parathyroidism (acute and chronic) Pseudo-hypo-parathyroidism , postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis, rickets and osteomalacia.

In hyper-calcemia and hyper-calciuria ( hyper-parathyroidism , vit .D. over dosage, plasmocytoma , bonemetastases ). calcium loss due to immobilization.
Constipation may occur with high calcium intake, nausea, and some G.I.T disturbance
Taking of corticosteroids may interfere with calcium absorption , Patient should be monitored carefully in case of concomitant treatment with Calcium and digitalis because the combination might Increase the toxicities of digitalis also when taken with tetracyclines or sodium fluoride the time between the two Drugs should be more than three hours.
When taken with vit.D , the concentration of calcium in blood and urine should be Monitored regularly.

Adults: 2 tabs/day – Children: ½ - 1 tabs/day divided in to two doses.
The patient should be given diuretics and corticosteroids.
